IEEE I&M Magazine published our technical paper

In its Aug-Sept issue, IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine published our technical paper that was originally presented last year at AUTOTESTCON conference in Anaheim, CA. It is one of six conference papers selected for the journal on a quality basis out of the total of 80 AUTOTESTCON'2016 contributions. The document titled "Run-Time Reconfigurable Instruments for Advanced Board-Level Testing" introduces the concept and reveals key implementation details of Embedded Virtual Instrumentation, the technology that was originally developed by Testonica Lab back in 2009 and that has later become the cornerstone in FPGA-Centric Test solutions, such as ChipVORX and Quick Instruments. In this context, Embedded Instrumentation populates, right after the assembly, empty FPGA devices on the customer board turning them into a forepost of Test & Measurement equipment right inside the System Under Test. Along with considerably increased test coverage and transparency, FPGA-hosted Embedded Instrumentation streamlines business processes during the product introduction phase. This is especially true for Quick Instruments, which are synthesized automatically for a target customer product, hence removing the need for the customer's firmware during the test. The Virtual Instrumentation as opposed to synthetic instruments rely on fixed reconfigurable hardware. In a similar way, the FPGA-hosted Embedded Virtual Instruments (FPGA-EVI) reuse the same pre-compiled instrument firmware for all target boards and applications. The FPGA-EVI would be automatically reconfigured in-place to support any customer board. That eliminates the engineering effort normally spent to either prepare the FPGA-based test setup or adapt Synthetic Embedded Instrumentation to the target FPGA.

IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Magazine is a bimonthly peer-reviewed publication that aims to meet the current need for providing applications-oriented and readable introductions and overviews of technology in the broadly-based areas of instrumentation system design and equipment, measurement techniques and systems to a wide engineering audience through articles, tutorials, columns, and departments. Its goal is to cross disciplines to encourage further research and development in instrumentation and measurement.
